MaeMae Hearts Kate

I ♥love it all. The brilliant colors, the stories in her print ads, the little movies, the website. I plan on living in Kate's clothes after the age of 45 as well. PS. she used to live in Scottsdale, AZ just like me too...

Happy Fourth Anniversary, Forrest & Allyson!!

My sister-in-law and her husband celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary last week. They are such a blessing in our life. I made them a little koi inspired card and envelope and a hanging sign for their home. We love you, Forrest & Allyson!!

I love me some good vintage type.

I think Santa made an early stop at my studio today... a jackpot from Paper Valise was waiting for me when I woke up. I have an explosion of vintage labels and tags surrounding me. I was hoping to use them for projects... but I just want to hoard them all!

all the way from CANADA :)

I can't wait to use these little tags...

Pariscope

Madeline Roth's style both at her store, Pariscope, and home is so dreamy. (I do not condone the Papyrus font on her site though!) I love how it is all grown up and elegant with a mishmash of things you love instead of things that match. I adore the black and white checkered floor and striped walls... One day...

Happy Weekend!

Up & Away Suite

The MaeMae catalog is coming to a close, and I just finished this suite. I am busting at the seems for you to see photos of what it is going to be used for... I am working with Summer from Grey Likes Weddings and photographer Jessica Claire to create stationery for a faux wedding photo shoot. There are going to be 40 photographers attending this two day workshop put on my Jessica and styled by Summer. The focus is on DETAIL shots. So fun! Wish I could take it too.

The theme is French hot air balloons... uhhhh. for real. AH-MA-ZING. Obviously photos to come, but here is the complete suite and then some favorites of mine. Hot air balloon ticket for the escort card... yummm.

Since Up & Away is going in my collection, it is available starting now for future brides! Call me if you want to chat.

P.S. How ironic that the colors are my business card colors and the hot air balloon... parallel universe.

Pollinate your mind, honey.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jean Gillingswators from Blackbird Press last weekend at the LA Printers Fair. I went crazy for this letterpress piece and had to get it for my hubby. We call each other variations of "Bee" and he is such a reading bee now!! I just hung it for him over his desk and it is a great addition to the studio. I love the contrast between the peachy color and the white paper.

MaeMae's Book Club

Watch out, Oprah. I've got my own must-read list piled up on my studio desk, next to my bed, on my stairs and on the living room couch. All inspiration to my work and life in some way, here is what I have been pouring over lately:

from left to right:
Taking Things Seriously, Joshua Glenn & Carol Hayes - the importance of little objects
The Things They Carried, Tim O'Brien - stories about story telling
Love is the Killer App, Tim Sanders - networking guide
Better Homes and Gardens Decorating Book (circa 1950) - illustration heaven
Nike's 100 Artifacts from the Battle Against Drag - compliments of Ruthi all the way from China
A few little Anthropologie catalogs - I have all the catalogs from 2002-2008. Eagerly awaiting this one tracked down by the illustrious Whitty Stroupe who lovingly mailed to me today.
The Creative Habit, Twyla Tharp - live-changer for anyone who makes their living through creative work.
Maryland Institute College of Art Undergraduate Prospectus - been using it as a design resource for 5 years
Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, David Sedaris - hilarious.
Twentieth-Century Pattern Design, Lesley Jackson - obsessed with art nouveau since I started working with Miss Jan E.
Neenah and Lettra paper resources (classic crest & cotton) - a must have for a stationer.
The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman - I die happy now.
Craft INC, Meg Mateo Ilasco - BUY THIS BOOK NOW if you want to make money doing what you love. Seriously. Get it. NOW.
Come Away My Beloved, Frances J. Roberts - Peace from God every day.

I love the pink paper and the black and white illustrations.

You have to WORK hard, not wait for creative genius to drop in on you!

Love the red page edges from Nike, my favorite photo from The Saratorialist, shot on my desk.

Crane's Lettra's pretty pretty cotton papers.

This particular pattern/color palette makes me drool.

What is your must-read book??????
