Erin & Trey Program

In addition to Erin and Trey's wedding suite we collaborated on this over-sized program for the wedding ceremony (which was just two days ago! CONGRATS!). Erin saw an old post of mine about fun folds in stationery while we were talking about her program. She emailed me: "I have a big huge crush on every piece of paper you touch, so I am sure I will love anything you do. All that to say, do whatever your heart desires, whether it be traditional or trendy; and if you want to try something out, you can totally use my stationery as a guinea pig." Boom. Done. (thank you Whitty for that expression).

The piece is 11 inches x 17 inches, double sided. The title pattern from their other pieces on the back and the text on the front. The piece folds down and is wrapped by a belly band (my new thing. ask for one with your suite!) Thanks, Erin & Trey!

Be Inspired By: Bonnie Tsang

"Be Inspired" was started to share commendable artists' work as inspiration to you as well as a look into what inspires them personally. I can't apologize enough for the huge gap between artists! Fresh artists will now be featured every Monday. WOoo! Be inspired.

This week's artist is renowned photographer, super mom, and kind friend, Bonnie Tsang.
Looking at her work is like putting in better eyes. All of her work is so clear, filled with colors I have never seen. Her wedding work is STUNNING. They have a sophisticated fashion edge. Tsang introduced her readers to an old photo project from 2004 of her doll Blythe. One of my fav new series; so other-worldly and amazing. "By taking photos of my dolls, I was able to test/learn different angles for portraits (believe it or not, LOL), which really helped develop my photography style." I love that. Be Inspired by her work, her story, and what inspires her.

What's your favorite color combination?
Pink and Green - super sweet and girly and romantic!

Most listened to song on iTunes?
Read My Mind by The Killers. I don't dance, but the song always makes me want to dance!

What is your favorite project/piece? Why?
My favorite piece would have to be a photo I took of a hummingbird with my Mom's bird feeder. It's very memorable because that's the first photo I photographed *for* someone and being able to capture the hummingbird mattered to me.

What projects are you currently working on?
I am brainstorming a little shop selling photo prints from myself and my 5-year old daughter (she's good with film!). I think it'll be so cute. I love how she sees the world compare to me.

the beautiful Miss V.

What inspires you? Who inspires you?
My family and friends are what inspire me, especially my daughter. Saul Leiter is just amazing with the way he captured life on the streets. Photography books and fashion magazines also inspire me.

Images from various weddings Tsang has shot.

What other arts are you interested in?
Painting, sculpture, music, musical... too many! I love everything art.

What do you want to be in ten years?
Wow, I rarely think this far... Ten years... I want to be a super mom who can balance her life perfectly and be happy.

What are some sites that inspire you?
Women In Photography
Kids with Camera

Just Ban.do It.

I am working on a signature line for MaeMae right now (unveiling in AUGUST!!) and one of the suites is going to be a very Marie Antoinette, frothy, feminine-fabulous collection. Ban.do has become a huge inspiration source for me and I wanted to share their scrumptious head pieces and belts. I also love their inspiration board. YUM.

Johnny Miller's gorgeous photos of inspiration boards for a Martha cake making book had me salivating... for the beautiful colors. Some cake would be nice as well.

Mermaid Island

I grew up a swimmer and felt at home in the water as much as I did on land. I have always been fascinated by the chaos and stillness that can all be found while being enveloped by it. I saw Barbara Cole's work in the most recent Anthropologie catalog and once again was reminded of my love for water.

I have some great underwater photos from my high school swim team days and I just ransacked my studio looking for them... If they appear I will share. In the meantime, here's one from two years ago at the La Jolla Rough Water Swim. A mile of swimming with sharks (bottom dwellers they tell you...), sea weed, and lots of crazy competive people who like to kick you in the eye when you're just trying to survive out there.

Jenn and I roughing it.

Sneak Peak: Katie & Pat

Here is a sneak peak into Katie and Pat's wedding accordion invite!!! I can't wait to share everything with you: custom envelope liner, table numbers that are actually street names from the map... so many fun details!

Katie and Pat are getting married in the historical Philadelphia and they wanted their invitation to be as rich as their own personal history and the city's history. The church the couple is getting married in is the church they attended when they first were dating and their reception site is the building where the newspaper The Philadelphia Ledger used to be produced. So rad!

The piece is a six panel accordion with a perforated RSVP at the very end that rips off to be placed in the envelope. The piece holds so many details... I LOVE IT! Can't wait to show you the rest.

Teaming up with Amber & Brandon

Amber and Brandon wanted to mix things up at their reception by showing their loyalty to the LAKERS! Here are two of their eight jersey numbers they are using for table numbers. My first in many brides who I am working with to create unique reception seating arrangement pieces.

Amy & Jim

Amy and Jim are using lots of heart symbols for their wedding. We incorporated them into the design as a subtle back ground. My favorite is the RSVP word "Check one Heart" to indicate if the guest will attend the wedding or not. So fun! Thanks, Amy and Jim!
